Apple's Touchscreen MacBook to Use M5 Chips, Not M6

B2 · 26 июня · 1 мин

Apple's upcoming high-end MacBook with an OLED touchscreen will be powered by the current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, not the next-generation M6.

Apple's upcoming touchscreen MacBook will be powered by the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, according to a recent report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The new device, which might be called the 'MacBook Ultra,' is expected to launch between late this year and early next year. It will feature an OLED display and a Dynamic Island similar to that of the iPhone.

The touchscreen MacBook will be available in 14- and 16-inch sizes, with the code names 'K114' and 'K116.' It is expected to cost more than the current M5 Pro MacBook Pro, which starts at $1,999. A new design has been hinted at, though specific details have not been revealed yet.

Apple has reportedly decided to skip the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips entirely. Instead, the company is working on M7 Pro and M7 Max chips, which will be focused on intensive AI workloads. These chips will feature upgraded neural accelerators and graphics enhancements. A new entry-level MacBook Pro with the standard M6 chip is still expected later this year.
