Apple Removes AirPort Utility App in iOS 27
Apple is removing the AirPort Utility app from the App Store with iOS 27, but existing users can still re-download it.
Apple plans to remove the AirPort Utility app from the App Store soon. The company announced this in the release notes for iOS 27 beta 2. The app is not fully supported in iOS 27, and Apple warns that it may not work properly.
Users who have downloaded AirPort Utility before can still re-download it. However, new users cannot download it for the first time. Apple is also removing the app from new macOS installations, but existing users can keep using it.
AirPort Utility helps users manage AirPort base stations like the AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule. Apple stopped selling these routers in 2018. With iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate, Apple is also ending support for AFP, so Time Machine will not work with Time Capsule. This shows Apple is moving away from AirPort devices.
